  5. My constant retouching companion. I had to set him up with his own mission control center (aka perch) so he can monitor my Wacom activities. Crazy cat lady replaced with crazy bird lady. Spinsterhood, here I come!

  7. Watching an Epson printer give me 24x36 matte prints is really fun. I’m hoping they’ll be ready for my show tonight… I shouldn’t have procrastinated.

One industrial hallway, an unfathomable amount of disco and rave lights, a fog machine, and a fan. There’s that adage in photography where you’re supposed to start from one light at a time and then work your way up to the whole setup… this was probably a fifteen light setup if I include all the disco lights? I just turned them all on at once and rolled with it. That’s half the fun of shooting.
This shoot was definitely challenging because I am a light-loving freak, and I love to control the light. In this case, chaos was the name of the game so I had my first experience mixing constant (or in this case, CRAZY FLASHING ROTATING RAVE) lights in with my flash. It was an experience in balance, trying to make sure I captured the disco-tec going on while also putting in light to fill the model. Also, my Skyport broke so I lost wireless capability to control my flash so I had to use a sync cord (*gasp*) which kept falling out, so I had to gaff tape it to my camera. On TOP of that, we had a fog machine running (the first time I’d ever used fog in a shoot - this shoot was a lot of first-times for me) and it was interesting to try and focus correctly while you have a wall of haze in front of your lens.
It looked like we were throwing a party. One crazy, crazy party with pretty girls.

  15. Wacom/Photoshop art done by yours truly, describing exactly how I feel at this moment. This is why I do photography. I have NO art skills. I can’t even write straight with a Wacom, and my handwriting sucks in real life.
